Book Review from Bookideas.com by Heather Froeschl:
Title: Cassiopeia Rising: Volume One Metamorphosis
Rated: 4 1/2 stars out of 5
"Homeschooled for the last four years, and caring for her sick father, has left little time for Cassy Rising to hang out with or even have friends, let alone boyfriends. She's been sheltered from the outside world, leering eyes, and boy-girl interactions. Now that her father has passed away, and she's graduated from her high school studies, Cassy is free to do what she wants. And all she wants to do is join the Marines, caring on their family tradition. The recruiter notices her drop dead gorgeous looks and mistakes her for a stripper.
It seems few people respect Cassy upon first impression and she is determined to change that. Cassiopeia Rising by K. F. Hawver is about more than good looks; it's about proving oneself to the world, being the best Marine since her father was in the ranks, and the promise of high security missions in the far reaches of the galaxy.
Set in the hopefully not to distant near future, the book is a combination of Sci. Fi. and military, but with a gentle edge and soft curves. The plot is fluid and captivating, as much so as Cassy seems to be. Readers will connect with her and want to see her succeed. There is something going on though. Is Cassy just too perfect? Can she be just a little too good at being a Marine?"
"The novel is fast paced and qualifies as a good read. Tempting and seductive, yet full of hand to hand training, while offering laughs, love and the refreshing innocence of a young adult, it is a well rounded and downright sexy book. I couldn't put it down and can't wait to see what comes next in the series."
